Underground gas storage facilities are an element in the infrastructure of the gas industry which makes it possible to create a balance between the virtually continuous supply of gas from the producing countries and deliveries to the customers where demand fluctuates sharply depending on the season. Underground storage facilities also help to bridge temporary supply bottlenecks.
The working gas capacity available to us from our own, leased or jointly owned underground gas storage facilities is about 5.2 billion m³ at a maximum withdrawal rate of approx. 5.8 million m³ per hour. Further investments in the expansion or construction of storage facilities are already being planned to guarantee supply security.
